What is the Motability Scheme?


The Motability Scheme enables eligible people with a disability to lease a brand-new car, scooter or powered wheelchair by exchanging their qualifying mobility allowance.

What does my car or WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle) Scheme package include?

When will you receive my first lease payment?

Your payments will start once you get your Scheme vehicle.


We’ll receive these straight from your allowance provider, to make paying simple.

Can I get a vehicle and a scooter or powered wheelchair?

You cannot lease a car or WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle) and a scooter or powered wheelchair at the same time because you can only have one lease on the Scheme at a time.

Do I need to be in my vehicle while it's being used?

Your vehicle needs to be used by the disabled customer or for their benefit.

How many miles am I allowed to drive?

You can drive up to 60,000 miles over a three-year lease and 100,000 miles over a five-year lease.

Can I buy the vehicle at the end of my lease?

No, you're not able to buy the Motability Scheme vehicle at the end of your lease.
